Mountain Biking Destinations in Nepal

The mountain bike trails in Nepal provide a singular experience with breathtaking single tracks that range from flowy to gnarly and challenge your technical abilities as well as your senses. Some of the routes are adaptable and provide fun single tracks with breathtaking Himalayan scenery that gradually give way to bends and lush green hills.

“The bicycle has a soul. If you succeed to love it, it will give you emotions that you will never forget.”

By Mario Cipollini

1. The Kathmandu Valley

Kathmandu Valley is one of the world's most vibrant, colorful, chaotic, and culturally diverse cities. Mountain biking in Kathmandu Valley is exciting and thrilling. These fast, swooping single track routes, adorned with fluttering prayer flags and interspersed with sneaky small rock sections, stand on their own as fantastic mountain bike trails, as well as being the ideal preliminary to acclimatizing you for riding in Nepal's Himalayas.

2. Upper Mustang

The beautiful Upper Mustang is a biker's paradise, having been featured in Anthill Films' Strength In Numbers and Red Bull's Where The Trail Ends. Lower Mustang is accessible, and there are so many fantastic trails that you can tailor each trip to go anywhere from 5 to 10 days and still have a good time.

Upper Mustang MTB has some of the most beautiful trails. It is pricey, but well worth it. If you're looking for a difficult mountain biking adventure, Upper Mustang is the place to go. Upper Mustang offers stunning scenery, tough routes, and the warm welcome of the residents, as well as some excitement.

3. Lower Mustang

The Lower Mustang route will certainly overwhelm your senses as it takes you through Nepal's magnificent geography. Ride through a parched desert terrain before plunging into the world's deepest gorge, the Kali Gandaki River, and experience the warm hospitality of the people who live along the path while taking in the spectacular Himalayan scenery. Muktinath, a major pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists, is the highest point of our mountain biking trip.

4. Annapurna Circuit

The Annapurna circuit in Nepal is a 200-kilometer mountain biking paradise that takes you on an amazing journey surrounded by some of the world's tallest peaks. Imagine snow-capped mountains, suspension bridges, pine forests, small alpine communities, and breathtaking vistas in all directions. Imagine ascending up to 5416 meters above sea level and down 25 kilometers; Annapurna circuit mountain biking is the ultimate extreme mountain riding experience.

5. Lower Everest Region (Phaplu, Pikey Peak)

Pikey Peak mountain biking trail is less well-known compared to other mountain biking trails in Nepal. Pikey Peak is surrounded by the breathtaking mountains of the Everest region and features dramatic courses that descend to pedal-pushing trails where you will need to carry your bike for some sections. For day trips or point-to-point travel, you can fly in or take a jeep. Mountain biking in the Everest region is highly adaptable in terms of routes and customizable alternatives, and you may ride while admiring Mt. Everest and experiencing the famed hospitality of the Sherpa people.
